Prince Harry Denounces Claims of Strained Meeting with King, Cites Sabotage
A spokesperson for Prince Harry has strongly refuted recent media reports regarding his meeting with King Charles, suggesting that “sources intent on sabotage” are undermining the Duke’s efforts to reconcile with his father.
The meeting, the first between Harry and the King in nearly two years, took place at Clarence House in London on September 10th.
Claims of a “Formal” Meeting Refuted
A report published on Saturday described the 54-minute private tea as “distinctly formal,” claiming that Harry jested that he felt more like an “official visitor” than a family member.
Harry’s spokesperson went beyond simply denying the quotes, calling the attributed remarks “pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son.” The spokesperson did not identify the source of the alleged fabricated information.
The original media outlet claimed that Harry’s team was given a chance to comment on the “carefully sourced account of the meeting” prior to publication but declined.
Correcting Details on Gifts
Harry’s representative also corrected an inaccuracy in the initial report concerning gifts exchanged. While the report claimed a framed photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s family was exchanged, the spokesperson denied this, clarifying that “a framed photograph was handed over, however the image did not contain the duke and duchess.”
The meeting followed Harry’s statement in May that he would “love a reconciliation” with his family. The Duke attended several charity events in Nottingham and London during his recent four-day visit to the UK.
Asked about his father’s well-being after the meeting, Harry responded, “Yes, he’s great, thank you.” The last known meeting between the King and Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet, was in June 2022.
