Preity Zinta Moves Chandigarh Court Against Co-Directors Over ‘Illegal’ Company Meeting
Alleges violation of Companies Act in April 21 EGM of KPH Dream Cricket Pvt. Ltd.
Chandigarh – Bollywood actress and businesswoman Preity Zinta has once again moved the Chandigarh court against her co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, raising serious concerns over alleged violations in the functioning of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company that owns IPL team Punjab Kings.
In a civil suit filed recently, Zinta has challenged the legality and validity of the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on April 21, terming it “illegal” and “invalid.” She has urged the court to declare the meeting null and void, citing that it was convened by Mohit Burman with the active support of Ness Wadia, in what she calls a “blatant contravention” of the Companies Act, 2013 and the Secretarial Standards on General Meetings.
Zinta alleged that the meeting was conducted in total disregard for legal procedures, bypassing the statutory requirements and ignoring due process, which she claims undermines corporate governance standards.
This legal move is the latest development in what appears to be a growing rift among the top brass of the Punjab Kings franchise. The matter is now under judicial scrutiny, and further hearings are expected in the coming weeks.
Zinta has previously raised concerns about decision-making processes within the company, making this not the first instance of internal disagreements surfacing in public. The outcome of this legal battle could have implications on the management structure of Punjab Kings and its operations moving forward.
