New Delhi, Oct 4, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s leadership in brokering a potential peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, assuring that India would extend full support to efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote: “We welcome President Trump’s leadership amid decisive progress in peace efforts in Gaza. Indications of hostage releases mark an important step. India will continue to strongly support all efforts for a just and durable peace.”
The statement comes at a time when the international community is actively working toward a ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians trapped in the conflict. India has consistently emphasized that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be resolved through dialogue and peaceful negotiations.
Earlier, PM Modi had also lauded Trump’s broader plan to end hostilities in Gaza, describing it as a “practical roadmap” toward lasting peace, security, and development not only for Israelis and Palestinians but for the wider West Asian region. He urged all concerned parties to unite behind the initiative to ensure an end to hostilities and a path toward reconciliation.
President Trump, who recently warned Hamas to accept the proposed peace deal by Sunday 6 p.m. Washington time or face severe consequences, outlined the plan earlier this week following talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The initiative includes provisions for hostage releases, Israeli troop withdrawal from Gaza, and the handover of local administration to a neutral Palestinian-led body.
