PAU HOLDS TRAINING COURSE ON PROCESSING AND VALUE ADDITION OF MILLETS

LUDHIANA, MAY 29,2025:

The Department of Processing and Food Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU),  organized a one-day training programme titled “Processing and Value Addition of Millets” for the farmers and small entrepreneurs. About 25 participants received thorough theoretical tutorials and hands-on training.

Dr Tarsem Chand Mittal, Head of the department, welcomed the participants and apprised them of various processing levels in millets.

Dr S. Sharma discussed the importance of processing in millets for providing necessary nutrients.

Dr Gurveer Kaur explained various techniques involved in farm level operations in primary and secondary processing of millets.

Dr Sandhya showed millet processing machinery for cleaning, dehusking and polishing of millets, and provided hands-on training.

Dr Preetinder Kaur, Technical Coordinator of the course, provided hands-on training on innovative techniques in packaging of millets.

Dr Jagbir Rehal gave demonstration in preparation of different value added products from various millet flours. The participants showed keen interest in various activities during the training course. The PAU literature was also distributed to the trainees free of cost.
