Pakistan Shelling Hits Gurudwara in Poonch, 12 Civilians Killed in Cross-Border Attacks
Poonch, J&K – May 7, 2025:
A shell fired from across the border by Pakistani forces struck a corner of Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, damaging one of its doors and shattering several glass panes. The incident has raised serious concerns over civilian safety in the ongoing spate of cross-border violence.
Narinder Singh, President of the District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, confirmed the damage to the Gurudwara and expressed deep concern over the escalating shelling incidents. “The shell hit one side of the Gurudwara building, breaking glass and damaging a door. It is deeply troubling that even religious places are not being spared,” he said.
Singh also revealed the grim toll the violence has taken on the region. “Twelve people have lost their lives in separate incidents of shelling across the Poonch district,” he stated.
The cross-border shelling has intensified in recent weeks, leaving residents of the border villages in a constant state of fear. Many have been forced to flee their homes, while others remain in vulnerable areas without adequate protection.
Authorities are yet to provide an official statement on the latest shelling incidents, but security forces have reportedly increased vigilance in the region. Relief measures for affected families are expected to be announced soon.
