One Dead, Five Injured in Mass Shooting in Toronto’s Lawrence Heights; Police Investigation Underway
Toronto, June 4, 2025 – A mass shooting in Toronto’s Lawrence Heights neighbourhood on Tuesday night has left one person dead and five others injured, according to local authorities. The incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. near Flemington and Zachary Roads, close to Ranee Avenue and Allen Road.
Toronto Police and emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene following multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found several individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Police later confirmed that one male victim had succumbed to his injuries, while five others sustained non-life-threatening wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
In a post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Toronto Police confirmed, “1 male confirmed deceased. 5 people with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds transported to hospital.”
At this time, authorities have not released any information about potential suspects or a possible motive behind the attack. A command post has been set up in the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed her concern and condemnation of the violence. “Disturbed by news of the shootings in the Lawrence Heights area this evening,” she wrote on X. She added that her office is in regular contact with Toronto Police and Deputy Mayor Mike Colle, who is also the local councillor.
“I want to thank the first responders — Toronto Police, Fire and Paramedic Services — for your work on a very busy and challenging scene,” Chow said, adding that further updates are expected from the police as the investigation progresses.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their efforts to identify those responsible.
