“One Day All Panthic Groups Will Honor Me with Saropa”: Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargaj Makes Bold Statement

Amritsar | June 6, 2025 — In a deeply emotional and assertive address on the 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star, acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, delivered a powerful message invoking Sikh unity, remembrance of martyrs, and his commitment to Panthic service. Speaking after a special ardaas (prayer), he emphasized the enduring pain of the 1984 ‘Saka Neela Tara’, asserting that the Sikh community still awaits justice for the bloodshed.

Call for Panthic Unity Under the Khalsa Flag

Jathedar Gargaj addressed the press conference held at the Akal Takht, where he urged all Sikh sects and groups to unite under the Khalsa Nishan Sahib. He warned of growing challenges facing the Sikh Panth and stated that only collective strength can steer the community through turbulent times.

He made a heartfelt mention of efforts to secure the release of Bandhi Singhs (Sikh political prisoners), reinforcing that the message from Akal Takht today was clear — that Sikhs are united and capable of sitting together to deliberate and decide the Panth’s future.

Wearing Black Dastaar in Remembrance of Martyrs

As a symbolic gesture, the Jathedar wore a black turban to honor the martyrs of Operation Blue Star. He expressed his deep reverence, saying, “I bow before the martyrs of the Ghallughara.”

Confident Outlook on His Leadership

When asked about his standing among Panthic factions, the Jathedar responded with unshakable self-belief:

“A day will come when all Panthic organizations will honor me with a Saropa.”

He stated that his loyalty is to the Panth, not to any position, and made it clear that if ever the Sikh community feels he is unfit for the service, he will gracefully step down and personally hand over the turban (symbol of leadership) to his successor.

“Change is the law of nature,” he remarked.

A Message of Sacrifice and Stewardship

His statements reflected both humility and resolve, indicating a desire for unity without ego. The Jathedar reinforced the supremacy of Akal Takht Sahib, declaring it the central force around which all Sikhs must revolve.
