NSO CAMP CONCLUDES AT PAU, SENIOR OFFICIAL ADVOCATES NATURAL DIET OVER FAST FOOD                                                  

LUDHIANA, JULY 25, 2025:

The Dean of the College of Horticulture and Forestry of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Dr RIS Gill urged the youths to make sports an essential component of their day to day life for enhanced physical and mental well-being.  Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the National Sports Organization (NSO) camp at PAU, the chief guest Dr Gill expressed deep concern over the younger generations’ growing preference for the fast food over the home cooked food. The junk food was the cause of obesity, hypertension, and many other diseases, gripping the Indian populace, he observed, while calling upon the youths to nourish their body, mind and soul with natural diet.

In his welcome remarks, Dr VS Hans, Estate Officer, informed that this NSO camp saw the participation of more than 245 students of PAU in athletics, basketball, badminton, cricket, hockey, volleyball, football, swimming, cycling and handball games. Besides, they were trained in physical fitness also, he said.

Dr KS Suri, Joint Director Students’ Welfare, proposed a vote of thanks. Sukhwinder Kaur of COHF and Ajitesh Singh of College of Agriculture were adjudged as the Best Campers in female and male category, respectively. The students were also rewarded for competing and emerging as winners in various games.

The Deputy Director (PE) Kanwaljit Kaur, Associate Director (PE) Sukhbir Singh and Assistant Director (PE) Paramvir Singh, Swimming coach Ajay Kumar, Hockey coach Gurteg Singh, and Athletics coach Gurmeet Singh were also present on the occasion.  Dr Paramvir Singh conducted the programme.
