A shocking case from Haryana has left the nation stunned. The woman seen wearing a mask in police custody is not an executioner — but a psycho killer accused of murdering four children, including her own son. Panipat Police have now arrested the woman, identified as Poonam, whose horrifying actions have shaken the region.
The latest crime that exposed her was the murder of a six-year-old girl, whom she allegedly drowned in a water tub. During the investigation of this case, police uncovered her involvement in three previous child murders, including the killing of her own son.
Panipat Police revealed that the child’s body was found with her head submerged in a bucket of water, while her feet were still on the ground — indicating deliberate drowning.
Police sources confirmed that Poonam had previously killed:
Her own son
Her sister-in-law’s daughter (2023)
Another young girl in Siwah village (August 2025)
The latest victim was her niece, Vidhi, a resident of Naultha village in the Israna area of Panipat.
According to the child’s grandfather, Pal Singh, the family had travelled to Naultha village to attend a wedding. While the adults were at the ceremony, the little girl went missing. After a frantic search, she was found dead in a storage room on the first floor, her head pushed into a tub of water.
The room was locked from outside. When the family opened it, they discovered the child inside the bucket.
Initial suspicion pointed to an unknown person, but police investigation soon led to Poonam — the victim’s paternal aunt. She was taken into custody and interrogated, during which the horrifying pattern emerged.
Panipat SP Bhupender Singh stated that Poonam targeted girls she believed were more beautiful than her. According to the police, she murdered:
Three young girls
Her own son
Attempted to mislead investigators by ensuring no one suspected her
Police described her as a cold, calculating psycho killer who showed no remorse during interrogation.
Her arrest has sent shockwaves across Panipat, Sonipat and surrounding districts. Residents are stunned that a woman from within the family circle committed such brutal murders over petty jealousy and disturbed thinking.
Police are now investigating whether she may have been involved in more unreported cases.
