Following the retirement of DIG Mandeep Sidhu, Nanak Singh DIG Patiala has officially stepped into the role. A 2011-batch IPS officer, Singh’s promotion is imminent, and he is expected to remain in charge of the Patiala Range. Previously, he served in key positions across Bathinda, Mansa, and Gurdaspur, gaining recognition for his empathetic policing.
The Punjab Government has reassigned 2014-batch IPS officer Varun Sharma as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Patiala. He had earlier served in the same role until August 2024. Sharma expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, pledging strict enforcement of law and a strong stance against drug-related crimes.
“The police must remain accessible and accountable. I will ensure we follow every government directive in both letter and spirit,” Sharma stated.
Having served in several key districts, Nanak Singh DIG Patiala has consistently prioritized community welfare. In contrast, Sharma has held positions such as AIG Provisioning and SSP of the Sadak Surakhya Force. Their appointments promise improved coordination and stronger law enforcement in Patiala.
These leadership changes mark a continuation of stable and accountable governance in the region. Both officers bring valuable experience and community-first principles to their new roles, reassuring residents of continued focus on safety and integrity.
