Midnight Blast Rocks Pakistan: Four Killed in Suicide Attack on Police Training Center

Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was shaken late Friday night by a deadly suicide bombing that left four people dead, including a police officer and three militants. The attack took place in Dera Ismail Khan, near the South Waziristan border, when heavily armed militants stormed a police training center.

According to officials, between seven and eight attackers launched a coordinated strike on the complex. Initial reports suggest that one suicide bomber detonated explosives near the entrance of the training facility, triggering intense gunfire between the militants and security forces.

Police spokesperson Yaqub Khan confirmed that one suicide bomber and two other militants were killed in the exchange, while several police personnel were injured. He added that the operation was ongoing, as authorities believe four to five more attackers may still be hiding inside the compound.

Pakistani security forces quickly retaliated, killing three of the attackers on the spot. The military has since joined the operation, and heavy firing continued well into the night. Residents reported hearing multiple explosions and rounds of gunfire after the initial blast.

The incident highlights the escalating conflict between Pakistan’s security forces and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Just days earlier, the Pakistani army reported killing 30 militants in raids across the country’s northwest, in response to a large-scale TTP ambush that left 11 soldiers dead.

The TTP, which has intensified its campaign against the state, continues to target police and military installations. Security officials warn that more such attacks may follow, as the group seeks to undermine government control in the tribal belt and border regions.

This latest attack underscores the volatile security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising fresh concerns about Pakistan’s ability to contain militant violence amid its ongoing struggles with the Taliban insurgency.
