Massive Unrest at VIT University in Madhya Pradesh: Students Torch VC’s Car After 4 Alleged Jaundice Deaths
Tension escalated late Tuesday night (between Tuesday and Wednesday) at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) campus in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, after students accused the university administration of negligence. Nearly 4,000 Gen-Z students launched a large protest on campus.
Students claim that jaundice has been spreading across the campus for several days.
Students allege that four students have died due to jaundice, which they say is a direct result of the university administration’s failure to act on time.
According to students, poor and insufficient water supply on campus is responsible for the outbreak.
They say that despite repeated complaints, the administration did nothing.
Angry students raised slogans against the administration and vandalized property.
During the protest, students set the Vice-Chancellor’s car on fire along with a university bus.
Students claim they repeatedly complained to:
the Vice-Chancellor’s office,
the Dean,
and other officials,
but the administration allegedly ignored the issue.
Fear of jaundice has already forced many students to leave the campus and return home.
