New York City – A horrific mass shooting rocked Midtown Manhattan on Monday when a gunman wearing a bulletproof vest opened fire inside a Park Avenue skyscraper, killing at least four people, including a police officer. The incident occurred at 324 Park Avenue, home to both Blackstone and NFL headquarters.

According to the NYPD, the shooter was located on the 33rd floor, where he was found dead from gunshot wounds. It is unclear whether he was killed by responding officers or died by suicide.

What We Know So Far

The assailant, armed with an assault rifle, was captured on camera calmly entering the building’s entry plaza, wearing tactical gear. Witnesses described the sound of “automatic gunfire” echoing through the high-rise.

“It sounded like a downpour of bullets… like from a high-capacity weapon,” said one eyewitness who was on the first floor at the time.

At least four people have been confirmed dead, including a police officer from the 47th precinct who was reportedly working off-duty for Rudin Properties, the building’s owners.

Multiple Victims, Panic in Midtown

The scene unfolded just blocks from major NYC landmarks. Early reports from CNN and local law enforcement suggest that several others have been injured, and the number of casualties may increase as more details emerge.

Authorities say the gunman entered the tower with intent, prompting mass evacuations. Videos circulating online show people fleeing the building in panic as police swarmed the area.

Two unrelated protesters outside the building were also detained during the commotion, but officials have not confirmed any connection to the attack.

Photo of Suspect Released

A chilling image of the shooter, released shortly after the incident, shows a calm, heavily armed individual walking past security toward the elevator lobby. Investigators believe he may have planned the attack well in advance.

Area on Lockdown

The NYPD has urged the public to avoid the vicinity of East 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, citing ongoing police activity and potential delays due to emergency vehicles.

“Please avoid the area near East 52nd Street between Park Ave and Lexington Ave. Expect emergency vehicles and delays in the vicinity,” NYPD News posted on X.

Authorities confirmed:

“The scene is now secure, and the lone shooter is deceased.”

Investigation Underway

Police are now sweeping the 33-story skyscraper floor by floor. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and FBI and Homeland Security units are also on scene assisting in the investigation.

More updates are expected throughout the day as officials identify the victims and gather details on the shooter’s identity and background.
