Major Terror Attack on Pakistan’s Jaffer Express: Train Hit by IED Blast, Multiple Coaches Derail
A major terrorist attack has struck India’s neighbouring country, Pakistan, after Jaffer Express, travelling from Quetta to Peshawar, was targeted with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The incident occurred near the Nasirabad area of Sibi district, causing several coaches to derail due to the force of the explosion.
According to initial reports, the blast was powerful enough to throw multiple coaches off the track and severely damage the railway line. Emergency teams rushed to the site, and railway officials began assessing the damage while security forces launched search operations in the surrounding area.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG), a Baloch insurgent organisation, claimed responsibility for the attack.
BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch announced on social media:
“We take responsibility for the remote-controlled IED attack on Jaffer Express in the Rabi area of Nasirabad.”
He further alleged that several Pakistani soldiers travelling on the train were killed or injured — a claim the Pakistani government has not confirmed officially.
BRG warned that such operations would continue until Balochistan gains independence.
Following the explosion, Pakistan Railways and security agencies deployed large numbers of personnel to the site. Rescue operations began immediately, with authorities working to clear damaged coaches and restore the rail line.
Pakistan has been facing repeated attacks on railway infrastructure, especially in Balochistan, where insurgent activity has increased in recent years.
This is not the first time Jaffer Express has been attacked. The train travels through some of Pakistan’s most volatile regions, making it a repeated target for insurgent groups.
Route: Quetta to Peshawar
Total Distance: 1,632 km (1,014 miles)
Total Journey Time: Approximately 34 hours 10 minutes
Operates daily, making one trip in each direction
Runs along the Rohri–Chaman and Karachi–Peshawar railway lines
This latest attack has once again raised serious concerns about railway security, the escalating violence in Balochistan, and the capability of insurgent groups to target major transportation networks in Pakistan.
Authorities are continuing investigations to identify how the IED was planted and whether additional threats remain in the region.
