Kerala Prepares for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) After Bihar, EC to Hold Talks with Political Parties
Thiruvananthapuram, September 13, 2025 – After Bihar, the Election Commission of India is now preparing to launch a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Kerala. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rathan U. Kelkar announced that a meeting with political parties has been scheduled for September 20, where details of the revision process will be shared.
Kelkar said all preparations have been completed and the state is awaiting the official schedule from the Election Commission. “On September 20, we will meet representatives of political parties and brief them on the steps and methodology of the SIR process,” he stated.
Highlighting Kerala’s readiness, Kelkar emphasized the state’s 100% digital literacy and full 4G coverage, which will make the revision exercise smoother and more efficient. He noted that the State Election Commission has already digitized all records and made them searchable on its official website.
“Kerala has already achieved full digitization of electoral documents. With an aware society, strong media presence, and cooperation from political parties, we believe this process will be carried out effectively,” he added.
The Special Intensive Revision is conducted to ensure the accuracy and completeness of electoral rolls. Kerala last underwent this process in 2002. The upcoming SIR will likely benefit from the state’s digital infrastructure and active civic participation.
Kelkar praised the people of Kerala for their awareness and support: “With full digital literacy and robust cooperation from stakeholders, the revision process will be much easier and more effective.”
