Popular YouTuber Joti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, has been arrested on charges of espionage for Pakistan. During an official press briefing on Sunday, the Haryana Police made a significant revelation in the case.

In Contact During Terror Attack

According to Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan, when the Pahalgam terror attack occurred in Jammu and Kashmir, Joti Malhotra was in contact with Ehsaan-ur-Raheem, also known as Danish, a Pakistani diplomat at the High Commission in Delhi.

The attack in Pahalgam had resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent civilians, and authorities claim that Malhotra was in touch with Pakistani handlers during this time.

Accused of Sharing Sensitive Information

SP Shashank Kumar stated that Malhotra was arrested based on central intelligence inputs suggesting she was involved in sharing sensitive information with foreign contacts and maintaining continuous communication with a Pakistani national.

She has traveled to Pakistan multiple times, and has also visited China,” the officer said. “She is currently under five-day police remand, and interrogation is ongoing.”

Funded Trips and Foreign Connections

Police further revealed that Malhotra’s visits to Pakistan were funded by foreign entities, believed to be linked to Pakistani intelligence. Officials allege that Pakistan was using Joti as an ‘asset’ for its purposes.

Additionally, the police have identified several other individuals connected to the case, and investigations into their roles are in progress.

Meetings with Key Figures Under Scrutiny

Authorities suspect that during her visits to Pakistan, Malhotra met with important individuals, possibly tied to intelligence services. Her activities have been under surveillance by Indian security agencies for some time.

Police are now closely examining her social media accounts, video content, bank transactions, phone records, and digital devices for further evidence.

Cyber Team Investigating Multiple Angles

The case is being probed from various angles by the police’s cyber cell team. Officers emphasize that sharing information about India with foreign countries is illegal, regardless of intent.

Malhotra remains in custody, and further legal action will be based on the findings from ongoing forensic and digital investigations.
