In a horrifying incident, a Japanese man car attack in Osaka left seven children injured as the suspect deliberately drove into them near a school.
On Thursday afternoon, panic gripped a quiet Osaka street when a car rammed into schoolchildren walking home. Police arrested 28-year-old Yuki Yazawa from Tokyo on the spot for attempted murder.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time. Witnesses said the vehicle swerved directly into the group of children and kept moving after impact. Yazawa remained inside until school staff dragged him out.
A seven-year-old girl suffered a broken jaw. Six other children, aged seven or eight, sustained minor injuries. Emergency crews transported them to a local hospital. All were conscious and talking.
Quick-thinking teachers acted immediately and pulled Yazawa from his white SUV. Police later confirmed that he made no effort to escape after the crash.
Authorities quoted Yazawa as saying, “I was just sick of everything, so I decided to drive my car into the elementary school students to kill them.” His statement, reported by NHK, has triggered public outrage.
The Japanese man car attack has reignited concerns over random violence and mental health issues. It has also prompted calls for stronger school protection nationwide.
A mother who had come to pick up her son described the chaos. “The car was wild. It didn’t stop after hitting the kids,” she said. Her son, new to school, was left deeply shaken.
Another witness said the driver even reversed into the children after the initial collision. They described Yazawa as silent and in a daze, showing no emotion.
Police are examining the vehicle and trying to determine why Yazawa, a Tokyo resident, was in Osaka. They will also conduct a full psychiatric evaluation to assess his mental state.
This violent act has renewed national debate on youth safety, mental health support, and the rise of unpredictable street attacks.
