U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked a fresh controversy by declaring victory in the ongoing conflict against Iran. During a press conference at the White House, Trump claimed that the United States has achieved military dominance over Iran. Consequently, he asserted that the U.S. now holds the sole authority to collect tariffs or tolls at the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. He made it clear that if Iran fails to reach an agreement, all of its power plants and infrastructure will be destroyed.
Trump has slightly extended the previously issued 10-day deadline, setting the new cutoff for Tuesday at 8 PM (Wednesday, 1:00 AM IST). He warned that no further concessions would be granted after this time, and the plan to send Iran back to the “Stone Age” would be executed. Trump emphasized his desire for a deal that ensures an uninterrupted oil supply.
In response, Iran’s former Foreign Minister labeled Trump a “foolish president” and appealed to Arab nations to provide a crushing reply to these tactics. He warned that an attack on Iran’s electrical infrastructure could plunge the entire region into darkness. Notably, 20% of the world’s total crude oil passes through this maritime route, significantly heightening the risk of a global energy crisis.
When questioned about the impact of these strikes on civilians, Trump claimed that the Iranian people are ready to stand up against their government and are willing to endure hardships for the sake of freedom. He stated that the United States has a concrete plan for toll collection and that the terms of the war will now be dictated solely by Washington.
