IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai After Mid-Air Technical Glitch
An IndiGo flight en route from Delhi to Goa was forced to make an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport late Wednesday night following a mid-air technical issue. The flight, numbered 6E 6271, took off from Delhi around 8:00 PM but had to divert and land in Mumbai at 9:53 PM.
According to aviation sources quoted by news agency PTI, the aircraft’s engine reportedly failed while airborne. The Airbus was carrying 191 passengers at the time of the incident. However, IndiGo has not confirmed any engine failure. In an official statement, the airline said that a technical snag was detected shortly after takeoff and, as per standard safety protocol, the aircraft was diverted to Mumbai for precautionary landing.
IndiGo further stated that a detailed inspection of the aircraft would be conducted before it is cleared for any further operations. Meanwhile, alternate arrangements were made for the stranded passengers, who were scheduled to travel from Mumbai to Goa on another aircraft.
Flight tracking data showed that the Delhi-Goa service had departed around 30 minutes later than its scheduled time. Before reaching its intended destination, the crew opted for an emergency landing in Mumbai at approximately 10:00 PM to ensure the safety of everyone onboard.
This incident comes just a day after another flight-related scare involving IndiGo. On Tuesday, flight 6E 2482 from Delhi to Patna made an unusual go-around after briefly touching down on the runway. Sources reported that the aircraft overshot its designated landing point and had to circle the airport for several minutes before landing safely again. That flight was carrying 173 passengers, many of whom reported breathlessness and anxiety during the unexpected maneuver.
IndiGo has yet to issue a detailed explanation regarding the Patna incident. However, both cases have once again raised concerns about mid-air technical issues and operational safety in Indian civil aviation.
