India on High Alert at All Airports: Intelligence Warns of Possible Terror Attack

New Delhi, August 6, 2025 — All airports across India have been placed on high alert following intelligence warnings about a potential terrorist threat. The advisory, issued by central intelligence agencies, outlines a possible attack window between September 22 and October 2, 2025.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, issued a notification on August 4, directing enhanced security measures at all airports, helipads, flying schools, and aviation training institutes across the country.

Intelligence Inputs Raise Alarm

The BCAS notification confirms that inputs from central security agencies indicate a credible threat from terrorists or anti-national elements. It warns of potential attempts to disrupt civil aviation and urges maximum vigilance and surveillance to prevent any untoward incident.

Stringent Security Protocols Enforced

In response, the following high-security measures are now being implemented nationwide:

  • Increased Patrolling: Continuous patrolling has been advised in sensitive zones including terminal buildings, parking areas, perimeter zones, and operational sectors.

  • 24/7 CCTV Monitoring: All airport CCTV systems must remain active and monitored. Any suspicious activity or unattended item will be investigated immediately.

  • Police Coordination: Local police forces have been instructed to coordinate closely with airport security and CISF units to tighten perimeter security around all airport premises.

Rules Tightened for Passengers and Staff

To address the threat comprehensively, new security protocols are being enforced for passengers, staff, and cargo:

  • Strict Identity Verification: All airport staff, contractors, and travelers will undergo enhanced identity verification procedures.

  • Mandatory Screening of Cargo & Mail: Both domestic and international cargo and mail must undergo mandatory pre-clearance checks before dispatch.

  • Public Awareness: Passengers are being encouraged to report any suspicious behavior or objects to airport authorities immediately.

  • Regular Drills and Announcements: Security drills and public safety announcements will be conducted routinely to ensure preparedness.

Coordination Among Security Agencies

BCAS has instructed all Airport Directors to strengthen coordination with local police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and other relevant agencies. In addition:

  • Special meetings of the Airline Passenger Services Committee are to be convened to plan joint responses to any potential threat.

  • Regional BCAS Directors have been ordered to hold urgent review meetings with all airports in their jurisdictions to monitor preparedness.

As India navigates a heightened state of alert, authorities emphasize that these steps are preventive and urge travelers to cooperate fully with enhanced security protocols while maintaining calm and vigilance.
