IND vs SA 1st ODI:
India registered a thrilling win over South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday. Batting first, India posted 349/8 in 50 overs, powered by Virat Kohli’s brilliant 135. In reply, South Africa fought hard but could reach only 332/9, giving India a 17-run victory.
India chose to bat first.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (18) and Rohit Sharma (57) gave India a steady start.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (8) and Washington Sundar (13) fell cheaply.
Virat Kohli smashed 135 off 120 balls, hitting 11 fours and 7 sixes.
KL Rahul supported him well with 60 off 56 balls.
Ravindra Jadeja added a quick 32 off 20.
South Africa’s bowling:
Marco Jansen, Nandre Burger, Corbin Bosch and Ottniel Baartman took 2 wickets each.
Chasing 350, South Africa had a disastrous start:
Harshit Rana dismissed Ricky Ponting and Quinton de Kock in the same over — both for 0.
Arshdeep Singh removed Aiden Markram (7).
The visitors were reduced to 3/12 in the second over.
