IND vs AUS: Australia Drops Two Star Players Ahead of Fourth T20 Match
Australia has made significant changes to its squad ahead of the fourth T20 match against India, scheduled for November 6. Two key players — opener Travis Head and fast bowler Sean Abbott — have been released from the team as they prepare for the upcoming Ashes series.
According to Cricket Australia, both Head and Abbott will miss the remaining two matches of the five-match T20 series. The management decided to release them to allow adequate rest and training ahead of the first Ashes Test, which begins on November 21 in Perth.
Earlier, Josh Hazlewood had also withdrawn from the T20 series for the same reason, focusing entirely on red-ball preparations.
So far, the five-match series stands at 1–1, with the first match washed out due to rain.
2nd T20: Australia clinched victory.
3rd T20: India bounced back with a convincing win.
The fourth match is now a crucial decider as both teams look to gain momentum before the series finale.
Travis Head, who is usually known for his explosive batting against India, has struggled in this T20 series — scoring 28 runs in Melbourne and just 6 runs in Hobart. His early dismissal in both games added pressure on Australia’s top order, prompting the team to reassess its combination.
With the Ashes series only weeks away, Australia’s management is prioritizing the Test format. The decision to rest key players highlights their focus on long-format readiness over short-term T20 results.
