US President Donald Trump has been honored with a special peace award from Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this during a press conference at Florida’s Mar-a-Lago club, where he congratulated Trump.
80-Year Tradition Broken
Netanyahu described the award as historic, noting that Israel has broken an 80-year tradition. This is the first time:
Israel’s highest civilian honor has been given to a non-Israeli recipient.
The award has been presented in the “Peace” category.
Typically, this honor goes to Israeli citizens for contributions in science, arts, or humanitarian fields. However, rules were amended to recognize Trump’s Middle East peace efforts and his support for Israel.
Reasons for the Award
According to Prime Minister Netanyahu, the award acknowledges Trump’s work for the welfare of Israel and the Jewish people, as well as his crucial role in halting the Israel-Hamas war. Netanyahu stated, “The Israeli people are grateful to President Trump because he has always stood with us in the fight against terrorism.”
Trump’s Response
After receiving the award, President Trump thanked Israel. Calling it a “very strong country,” he said:
“I’m not concerned about Israel’s actions—what concerns me is what other countries (enemies) are doing. There are endless possibilities for working together with Israel in the Middle East.”
Trump added that while views may differ on some issues, both nations fully agree on most strategic matters.
