New Delhi, May 14, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall and storms across parts of Southern and Northeastern India over the next five days. Meanwhile, North India continues to face intense heatwave conditions.
Rain is likely to continue in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, heavy showers are expected from May 14 to 16.
Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive rain on May 14, while North Interior Karnataka could see continued rainfall from May 14 to 18.
Similarly, South Interior Karnataka may experience rain on May 14, 15, and 18.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are forecasted to get heavy rain on May 15.
Kerala and Mahe are expected to be affected on May 14 and again between May 18 and 20.
Notably, Telangana faces a hailstorm alert on May 14.
In contrast to the south, the northeastern states are likely to face very heavy rainfall:
Arunachal Pradesh is expected to receive rain on May 14 and 15.
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also experience rain on the same dates.
Assam and Meghalaya are forecasted to have very heavy rain on May 15 and 16.
Western regions are also on alert.
Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada will likely see consistent rain from May 14 to 18.
Gujarat may receive showers on May 14 and 15.
As a result of a developing system, Madhya Maharashtra may see strong winds up to 70 km/h on May 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, North India is battling a severe heatwave:
Uttar Pradesh is expected to face extreme heat between May 15 and 18.
West Rajasthan will experience similar conditions from May 15 to 17.
However, some relief is on the horizon.
Light to moderate showers may reach Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh from May 18 to 20.
Additionally, Punjab and Haryana may receive light rain on May 14 and 16, while Uttarakhand is likely to get showers on May 15 and 16.
West Rajasthan may also see light rain on May 17 and 18.
