Four Members of Lawrence Gang Killed in Mohali Encounter: Two Injured, Major Terror Plot Foiled; Huge Cache of Weapons Seized
A major police operation in Mohali, Punjab, on Tuesday afternoon led to a fierce encounter with members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang near the Dera Bassi–Ambala Highway. In the operation, four gang members were arrested, while two others were shot and injured during the exchange of fire.
Police had received a tip-off that the gang members were planning a major crime and were moving through the area with weapons. Acting swiftly, the police set up checkpoints and surrounded the suspects. When the criminals attempted to flee, they opened fire, triggering a shootout in which two gang members were injured. They were immediately shifted to the hospital under police guard.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the attackers.
The encounter took place near Steel Strips Towers on the Dera Bassi–Ambala Highway. Four gang shooters were overpowered and arrested, while two were injured in the gunfire and hospitalized.
After receiving intelligence inputs, Mohali Police laid a trap and intercepted the suspects. Despite the criminals firing to escape, police managed to control the situation and seize a significant stock of weapons.
According to senior officials, all the arrested men were working on a plan to execute targeted attacks in Punjab. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang had been preparing for large-scale violence.

The weapons were reportedly intended to be delivered in the Dera Bassi area, as confirmed by SSP Mohali Sandeep Hans.
A forensic team has begun examining the recovered weapons. Police believe more members of the gang may be involved and have launched additional raids in surrounding areas. Senior officials visited the site and praised the swift actions of the local police team.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed through an official statement that the gang was acting under the instructions of a handler based abroad. Their targets included locations in Mohali, Chandigarh, Panchkula (Tricity), and Patiala.
One gang member had been hiding in a house along the highway and fired at police during a search operation.
SSP Sandeep Hans revealed:
Intelligence indicated that weapons were being transported into the area.
A team led by DSP Bikram Brar tracked the suspects linked to Goldy Brar, an operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi network.
A person named Mandeep Singh, based in Spain, was reportedly coordinating this module.
When police attempted to intercept the suspects, they opened fire. Four were arrested — two after being shot in the legs, and two after surrendering.
Earlier intelligence from the Ghaggar region had also hinted at their movements.
The recovered motorcycles and other equipment will also undergo forensic analysis.
