In a joint operation, personnel from the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the intelligence department detained four Bangladeshi nationals at the Agartala Railway Station for illegally entering India and attempting to travel to other states by train.
The detained individuals have been identified as Zahidul Islam alias Jahir (42) from Dhaka, Dilwar Hossain (44) from Shariatpur, Jamirul Islam (27) from Panchagarh, and Mohammad Zia (35) from Jamalpur. Authorities apprehended them during a routine check after they failed to produce valid travel documents.
According to officials, the operation was part of heightened security measures at railway stations across Tripura, aimed at preventing illegal migration and maintaining national security.
The detainees have been taken into custody for further questioning. Legal action under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act is being initiated, officials confirmed. Investigations are underway to ascertain the purpose of their travel and whether they had any local contacts aiding their movement.
Security forces have increased surveillance at key transit points following the incident to prevent similar attempts in the future.
