Donald Trump’s H1B Visa Fee: Doctors May Get Exemption, New Report Claims

Washington –

A major twist has emerged in the controversy surrounding U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a $100,000 fee on new H1B visas. According to a new Bloomberg report, doctors and medical residents may be granted exemptions from the steep charges.

The White House confirmed on Monday that it is considering possible relief measures for certain professional groups. Initially, Trump’s announcement triggered global uproar, particularly within the technology sector, where the H1B visa is widely used to hire foreign talent. Reports at the time suggested that all H1B applicants would be required to pay the new $100,000 fee.

However, the White House later clarified that the revised fee would not apply to individuals who already hold H1B visas. Instead, it would only impact new applicants.

The Bloomberg report, citing an email from White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers, states that the administration’s latest announcement “allows for potential exemptions,” specifically naming doctors and medical residents as likely beneficiaries.

If implemented, this exemption would ease concerns within the U.S. healthcare sector, which heavily depends on international doctors and medical professionals, especially in rural and underserved areas.
