Donald Trump to Visit India? U.S. President Hints at Upcoming Trip; Praises PM Modi During Trade Talks
Summary: U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that discussions on a trade agreement with India are progressing well. During a media interaction, he also suggested that he may visit India next year. Additionally, Trump repeated his bold claim that India has stopped buying oil from Russia.
U.S. President Donald Trump may visit India next year. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said that trade negotiations between India and the United States are moving in a positive direction, and he remains in close contact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the issue.
Trump once again claimed that India is reducing its oil imports from Russia. Responding to a question on talks with PM Modi, he said:
“The talks are going well. They have almost stopped buying oil from Russia. He is my friend, and we speak often, and he wants me to visit India. We are considering it, and I will go. Prime Minister Modi is a great man, and I will definitely visit.”
When asked whether he would visit India next year, Trump replied:
“Yes, that is possible.”
In recent days, Trump has repeatedly asserted that India is now ending its crude oil purchases from Russia and that both nations are close to finalizing a trade deal.
However, the Indian government has responded clearly, stating that India will prioritize its own energy needs. India emphasized that it will take all necessary steps to protect its national interests and ensure affordable energy access for its citizens.
On the other hand, Trump has frequently highlighted his personal rapport with Prime Minister Modi. Just a few days ago, Trump even described Modi as “the best-looking leader so far.” Though trade tensions rose after the U.S. imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods, Trump has continued to publicly praise Modi, and the two leaders have spoken several times over the phone.
