Donald Trump lashes out at court ruling, responds with furious post on Truth Social

Washington, D.C. – Former U.S. President Donald Trump reacted angrily after a federal appeals court declared most of his imposed tariffs “illegal.” Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump posted a long and furious message attacking the ruling, vowing that the fight would ultimately be decided in the Supreme Court.

Trump’s statement in full

Trump began his post in all capital letters: “ALL TARIFFS REMAIN IN EFFECT!” He accused a “highly biased appeals court” of issuing a flawed decision, but expressed confidence that America would prevail in the end.

Warning of dire consequences if the tariffs were overturned, Trump wrote: “If these tariffs are ever removed, it will be a disaster for our country.” He argued that the court’s decision threatens the U.S. economy and insisted that allowing it to stand would “literally destroy America.”

Turning to the Supreme Court

The former president made it clear that he intends to take the battle to the Supreme Court. He said: “For many years, our careless and foolish politicians allowed other nations to use tariffs against us. Now, with the help of the U.S. Supreme Court, we will use tariffs for the benefit of our nation and make America rich, strong, and powerful again!”

What the court ruled

On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. ruled that the majority of Trump’s tariffs were unlawful, concluding that he had overstepped his presidential authority. However, the court placed its decision on hold until October 14 to allow the Trump administration time to appeal to the Supreme Court. This means that, for now, all tariffs remain in place.
