Hapur, Uttar Pradesh | Sept 25, 2025 – In a bizarre medical case that left doctors stunned, surgeons in Hapur successfully removed 29 steel spoons and 19 toothbrushes from the stomach of a 35-year-old man named Sachin, a resident of Bulandshahr.
Sachin, who had been battling drug addiction, was admitted by his family to a de-addiction center. According to relatives, he was unhappy there as food was restricted. In frustration, he reportedly began swallowing spoons and toothbrushes inside the facility.
Gradually, he developed severe abdominal pain. When the pain became unbearable, his family rushed him to Dev Nandini Hospital, Hapur, where doctors were shocked to discover a large number of metallic and plastic objects inside his stomach.
A team led by Dr. Shyam Kumar immediately decided to operate. During the surgery, they successfully removed a total of 48 foreign objects – 29 steel spoons and 19 toothbrushes.
Dr. Kumar explained:
“Such cases are usually linked to psychological or psychiatric disorders. The patient’s condition was critical, but timely surgery saved his life.”
Currently, Sachin’s condition is stable, and he is under close medical observation. Doctors noted that surviving after ingesting such a large number of objects is nothing short of a miracle.
The case highlights the challenges posed to medical science, as foreign body ingestion in such extreme numbers is rare and life-threatening.
