Delhi Red Fort Blast: DNA Confirms Suicide Bomber Was Dr. Umar, the Driver of I20 Car

New Delhi, November 13, 2025 (6:16 AM) — The mystery behind the unidentified body found inside the charred Hyundai i20 car that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort has finally been solved. According to forensic sources at AIIMS, DNA analysis has confirmed that the remains belong to Dr. Umar, the suspected suicide bomber who was allegedly driving the vehicle at the time of the blast.

Although the final forensic report is still being prepared, preliminary DNA matching has established a conclusive link. DNA samples collected from Dr. Umar’s mother and brother in Kashmir were cross-verified with the biological remains found at the scene, confirming the identity of the deceased.

CCTV Footage Reveals Dr. Umar Waiting in Car for Hours

Investigators discovered CCTV footage showing the i20 car parked near the blast site approximately three hours before the explosion. Sources said Dr. Umar was seen sitting inside the vehicle during this entire period, indicating he might have been preparing for a planned detonation. Forensic teams recovered DNA samples from the driver’s seat and sent them for urgent analysis to confirm whether the deceased was indeed the bomber.

The Delhi Police and national intelligence agencies are now piecing together Dr. Umar’s network and possible foreign links. Officials believe he could have been part of a larger terror module, possibly connected to groups operating from across the border.

Government Labels Attack as a “Heinous Act of Terror”

A high-level Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met on Wednesday to review the incident. The government described the explosion as a “heinous act of terrorism” and vowed zero tolerance against such acts.

The Cabinet passed a formal resolution condemning the attack, stating:

“The government is committed to identifying and bringing to justice the perpetrators, their associates, and sponsors behind this cowardly and despicable act.”

The meeting also directed investigative agencies to conduct a professional, time-bound probe and report progress regularly. The Cabinet observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims.

Investigation Underway

Forensic experts explained that DNA profiling is a complex, multi-stage process that usually takes three days to a week. However, in this case, emergency protocols allowed results within 24 hours due to the high-profile nature of the investigation.

The blast, which occurred earlier this week near one of Delhi’s most heavily guarded heritage sites, has raised major security concerns. The authorities have intensified surveillance across the capital, focusing on CCTV footage, digital dump data, and movement of suspicious vehicles linked to the incident.
