Delhi Acid Attack Twist: Father Arrested for Staging Fake Attack Using Toilet Cleaner, Accused of Raping Woman Linked to the Case

In a shocking turn of events, the Delhi Police have revealed that the alleged acid attack on a Delhi University (DU) student was fabricated by the victim’s father, who has now been arrested. The motive, investigators say, was revenge against a man who had accused the father of rape and blackmail.

The Case So Far

On Sunday morning, a 20-year-old DU student had claimed that she was attacked with acid by three men near Laxmibai College, North-West Delhi, while on her way to an extra class. She had accused Jitender, his two cousins Ishan and Armaan, of carrying out the attack — all of whom are her distant relatives.

The woman was admitted to RML Hospital with burn injuries on her hands. Initially, Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhisham Singh told the media that the accused had been “stalking her for months.”

However, within 24 hours, the case took a dramatic twist.

The Five Key Police Revelations

  1. Fake Acid Attack Story Created by Father and Daughter:
The father admitted during interrogation that he and his daughter staged the acid attack using toilet cleaner from their home. Their aim was to frame Jitender and his family, with whom he had ongoing personal and legal disputes.

  2. CCTV and Call Records Disproved the Girl’s Story:
Special CP Ravinder Singh Yadav confirmed that CCTV footage and call detail records contradicted the student’s claims. Police now believe the girl injured herself to make the attack appear real.

  3. Rape Complaint Against the Girl’s Father Days Earlier:
Just two days before the alleged attack, Jitender’s wife filed a rape and blackmail FIR against the student’s father. She alleged that between 2021 and 2024, while working in his factory, he raped her multiple times and threatened her with private photos and videos.

  4. False Accusations Against Innocent Men:
Police have verified that two of the accused, Ishan and Armaan, were actually in Agra with their mother at the time of the alleged attack. The police also discovered that the student herself had been a victim of an acid attack in 2018 and is currently in a property dispute with Jitender’s family.

  5. No Acid Traces Found at Scene:
Investigators found no chemical residues at the supposed attack site. CCTV footage showed the woman leaving home on a two-wheeler with her brother, who dropped her off in Ashok Vihar, from where she took an e-rickshaw. None of the alleged attackers were seen in the footage.

Current Status

The father has been arrested for fabricating evidence, rape, and criminal conspiracy, while police continue to search for the brother, who is untraceable and has not joined the investigation.

The Delhi Police have confirmed that medical tests will determine whether the substance used was indeed toilet cleaner, not acid.
