Deadly Attack on Imran Khan’s Close Aide and Advisor in Britain: Nose and Jaw Broken

A brutal attack targeted Mirza Shahzad Akbar, a former close aide to Imran Khan and advisor on accountability matters in his government, while he lives in exile in Britain. Akbar suffered serious injuries, including a broken nose and jaw, and was hospitalized.

London: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reports that the assault occurred at Akbar’s home in Cambridge. According to the party, 25-30 attackers repeatedly punched him, fracturing his nose and jaw. Akbar himself spoke to a Pakistani newspaper, confirming the details.

PTI has linked the incident to “transnational threats,” expressing grave concerns over the safety of its leaders amid Pakistan’s political instability. The party noted this echoes a recent press conference by Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Ahmed Sharif, where Akbar’s name came up in a question. The general reportedly dismissed it, saying he “didn’t even want to look at it.”

This is not the first time Shahzad Akbar has been targeted. Previously, he claimed threats for refusing to testify against Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
