Mandi, Himachal Pradesh – A devastating cloudburst early Tuesday morning has led to severe flood-like conditions in Mandi district. Continuous heavy rainfall since last night has disrupted normal life and caused widespread panic among local residents.
According to officials, two people have died and two others are currently missing due to the deluge. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing across the affected areas.
The rainfall has led to landslides in multiple parts of the district, blocking roads and damaging infrastructure. Debris and mud have accumulated in several areas, creating serious obstacles to rescue efforts. Authorities have confirmed that two bodies have been recovered, while teams are searching for the missing persons.
Several low-lying areas have been inundated, and the Mandi Regional Hospital has reported waterlogging in nearby drains, posing risks to patients and healthcare workers.
District officials have sounded an alert and advised residents in vulnerable zones to remain indoors and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Rescue teams, including SDRF and local police, are working in coordination to clear blocked roads and evacuate at-risk individuals.
Transportation in and around Mandi has been heavily disrupted. The danger of further landslides and flash floods remains high as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in the region over the next 48 hours.
Local residents have been urged to stay alert, stock up on essentials, and follow government advisories closely.
This incident is the latest in a series of extreme weather events to hit Himachal Pradesh during the 2025 monsoon season. Flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides have been reported across districts, raising concerns over climate resilience and disaster preparedness in the hilly state.
