Clinton Team Accuses White House of Using Him as a “Scapegoat” After Epstein Files Release

The release of new documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has once again stirred political turmoil in the United States, with former President Bill Clinton’s team directly targeting the Trump administration. Clinton’s aides have alleged that the current White House is trying to protect itself by turning the former president into a “scapegoat.”

In a strongly worded statement, Clinton’s team said the controversy surrounding the Epstein files is being deliberately framed to divert attention from information that was either withheld for months or never intended to be made public. “This issue is not about Bill Clinton,” the statement asserted, accusing the administration of manipulating selective disclosures to shift public focus.

According to the newly released material, former President Donald Trump’s name does not appear in the latest batch of Epstein-related files. However, several old photographs showing Bill Clinton swimming with women have resurfaced, reigniting scrutiny around his past association with Epstein. Clinton’s team maintains that these images, some over two decades old, are being used to create a misleading narrative.

A Clinton spokesperson posted a detailed defense on social media platform X, stating that the White House’s prolonged delay in releasing the files was “not to protect Bill Clinton, but to protect itself.” The statement added that releasing “blurry, decades-old photographs” allows false claims to be made, but does not change the facts. “This was never about Bill Clinton, it is not now, and it never will be,” the spokesperson said.

The statement also cited White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who reportedly acknowledged that President Trump’s repeated claims about Clinton’s alleged involvement in the Epstein case were incorrect. Wiles is said to have admitted that there is no evidence showing Clinton ever visited Epstein’s private Caribbean island, despite persistent allegations.

Clinton has previously clarified his limited association with Epstein, stating that he maintained contact only until he became aware of Epstein’s criminal activities. According to Clinton, once he learned about the allegations in 2005, he severed all ties with Epstein.

Another Clinton aide emphasized that there are “two kinds of people” in this controversy: those who cut off contact as soon as Epstein’s crimes became known, and those who continued their association despite being aware of the allegations. “We belong to the first group,” the aide said, adding that “the truth will eventually come out.” The statement concluded by saying that Trump’s MAGA supporters should demand real answers, not scapegoats.

It is noteworthy that the U.S. Department of Justice has released around 300,000 pages of documents related to the Epstein case. Critics of the Trump administration argue that only selected files were made public, while documents allegedly containing references to Trump remain undisclosed. The Justice Department has responded by saying that key portions are still under investigation and that many pages and images have been redacted to protect victims’ identities.

Opponents, however, claim that excessive redactions may have been used to remove politically sensitive names from the files. As debate intensifies, the Epstein documents continue to fuel allegations of selective transparency and political maneuvering at the highest levels of American power.
