Clarification Issued by SGPC and Granthi on Claims of Military Guns Installed at Sri Darbar Sahib
SGPC President Denies Permission:
Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has clearly stated that no permission has been granted by the SGPC to the Indian Army for any military deployment at Sri Darbar Sahib. He emphasized that no anti-aircraft or other guns have been installed at the holy site.
Additional Head Granthi Strongly Rejects Claims:
Giani Amarjeet Singh, Additional Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, has dismissed the Indian Army officials’ claims as false and shocking. He asserted that as someone directly associated with the shrine’s spiritual management, he can confirm that no such approval has ever been granted.
Army General’s Statement Refuted:
Lieutenant General Sumer Ivan recently claimed in an interview that anti-aircraft guns had been deployed near Sri Darbar Sahib. Responding to this, Giani Amarjeet Singh reiterated that as Additional Head Granthi, he categorically denies the occurrence of any such military action or installation.
Lights Off During Blackout Compliance:
In coordination with the Amritsar district administration’s blackout guidelines, the management of Sri Darbar Sahib switched off lighting at select areas. However, in line with the sanctity and decorum of the holy site, essential lights remained on wherever necessary.
Clear Stand:
Both the SGPC and the management of Sri Darbar Sahib have reaffirmed that no permission was granted to the Indian Army for the installation of military guns or for conducting any kind of military operations within or around the premises of the sacred shrine.
