China Would Crush the U.S. in a Taiwan War, Reveals Leaked Pentagon Assessment

A highly classified U.S. government document has triggered serious concerns in Washington after revealing that the United States could face a decisive defeat if a military conflict with China erupts over Taiwan. The New York Times, citing the secret report, disclosed alarming findings about China’s rapidly advancing military capabilities and America’s structural weaknesses.

China’s Superiority in a Taiwan Conflict

According to the document—titled “Overmatch Brief” and produced by the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment—China would hold a significant battlefield advantage using advanced fighter jets, modern warships, and sophisticated military satellites. The report states that Beijing’s evolving arsenal could easily neutralize many of America’s most powerful and expensive military systems.

The assessment highlights a stark contrast:

  • The U.S. continues to depend on extremely costly but increasingly vulnerable systems, while

  • China is deploying cheaper, technologically superior weapons at a much faster pace.

This combination, the report warns, is rapidly eroding America’s ability to win a conflict against a major superpower.

China’s Latest Warning

The leak comes shortly after a bold warning from Beijing. Responding to Japan’s plans to deploy missiles on an island near Taiwan, Peng Qing’an, spokesperson for China’s Taiwan Affairs Office, stated:

“We have the strong will, determination, and capability to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. We will resolutely crush any foreign interference in the Taiwan issue.”

Internal Shock Within the Biden Administration

A senior U.S. official revealed that when the report was reviewed by a national security aide in 2021 during the Biden administration, the findings were “shocking.” The aide realized that China had multiple backup strategies for every American military advantage.

The assessment also details wide-ranging vulnerabilities within the U.S. military’s supply chain, including dependencies that could cripple operations in a crisis.

Aircraft Carriers at Extreme Risk

One of the most startling points in the document concerns America’s Ford-class aircraft carriers—some of the most expensive warships ever built.

The report notes that these massive carriers frequently get destroyed in simulated war games, raising questions about their survival in a real conflict. Despite this, the U.S. Navy plans to build at least nine more Ford-class carriers in the coming years.

Cyber Threat: China’s “Volt Typhoon” Hackers Inside U.S. Systems

The document further alleges that a Chinese state-backed hacking group, known as Volt Typhoon, has inserted malware into several U.S. critical infrastructure systems—including electrical grids, communication networks, and water supplies.
These systems are essential for the operation of American military bases.

The malware could be activated in a conflict, potentially crippling U.S. military response capabilities before a shot is even fired.
