Chargesheet to be Filed Today in Majithia Case: ₹700 Crore Benami Properties Exposed

Mohali, August 22, 2025 – In a major development in the alleged corruption case against former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau will file a chargesheet in the Mohali court today. The chargesheet is expected to be presented within a short while.

  • Detailed Documentation: The chargesheet runs over 40,000 pages, the outcome of an extensive investigation.

  • Property Disclosures: It reveals benami and illegally acquired properties worth more than ₹700 crore.

  • Witnesses & Evidence: The report includes testimonies from over 200 individuals and scrutiny of more than 400 bank accounts.

  • Scope of Investigation: The Vigilance team carried out raids and inquiries at over 15 locations across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi before compiling the chargesheet.

  • Statements of Other Leaders: The chargesheet also records statements of several other leaders from the Akali Dal and BJP.
