According to officials from the Sacramento City Fire Department, the helicopter went down around 7 p.m. on October 6 near the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 at 59th Street. Authorities confirmed that the aircraft was engaged in medical services, though it remains unclear whether it was transporting a patient or returning from a hospital mission at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Caltrans crews, quickly arrived at the scene to assist with rescue operations. The eastbound section of Highway 50 near the crash site was immediately shut down to ensure safety and facilitate the investigation.
