Big Good News for Government Employees: 58% DA Announced, Know When Benefits Start
Bhopal, March 6, 2026
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav gave a huge Holi gift to lakhs of state government employees and pensioners. The government announced employees will now get 58% Dearness Allowance (DA) matching central government rates. This new increase takes effect from April 1, 2026, with higher amounts starting in May salaries. This decision will significantly improve financial conditions for lakhs of families.
The government not only raised DA but also approved arrears from July 2025 to March 2026. These will be paid in six equal installments starting May 2026. Pensioners get relief too—58% Dearness Relief (DR) for January and February 2026. These steps shield employees from rising inflation impacts.
Kerala government recently hiked DA by 10% to 35%. Meanwhile, 8th Pay Commission demands gain momentum. Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) seeks merging 50% DA into basic pay plus interim relief from January 1, 2026. For a Rs 40,000 basic salary employee, 3% DA adds Rs 1,200 monthly—but 58% brings much bigger gains.
