Baba Siddique Murder Mastermind Arrested in Canada by Surrey Police

Mumbai, June 7, 2025 – In a major breakthrough in the high-profile Baba Siddique murder case, Canadian authorities have arrested the alleged mastermind, Zeeshan Akhtar alias Jassi Purewal, in Surrey, Canada. Zeeshan, a native of Jalandhar, had been on the run since the killing and is believed to have escaped abroad with help from a Pakistani gangster.

According to reliable sources, the Mumbai Police are currently in touch with Surrey Police in Canada following the arrest. However, an official confirmation from Mumbai Police is still awaited.

Baba Siddique, a prominent NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader and a close associate of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, was shot dead earlier this year. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had claimed responsibility for the murder, allegedly targeting Siddique due to his association with Salman Khan.

Zeeshan Was Present at the Murder Scene

Investigations had revealed that Zeeshan Akhtar was physically present at the scene when the shooters opened fire on Baba Siddique. The police believe he orchestrated the entire operation and had a backup plan to shoot Siddique himself if the initial attack failed.

After the killing, Zeeshan reportedly sent photos and videos of the murder scene to Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, with whom he was on a phone call during the operation. These chilling details point to Zeeshan’s active and central role in the assassination plot.

Escape and International Manhunt

Post-murder, Zeeshan fled India, allegedly aided by underworld figure Shehzad Bhatti, known for facilitating safe passage out of the country for fugitives. He remained under the radar until his recent capture by the Canadian authorities.

The arrest is expected to add significant momentum to the ongoing investigation by the Mumbai Police, who had already detained and interrogated several individuals linked to the case. Zeeshan’s capture could potentially reveal deeper ties between domestic gang networks and international crime syndicates.

As the extradition process is likely to begin soon, officials hope Zeeshan’s interrogation will unravel more layers of the conspiracy behind Baba Siddique’s assassination, including the direct involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Further updates are awaited from both Indian and Canadian authorities.
