A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of arson attacks that police believe are linked to a home owned by Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The incidents, now under investigation by counter-terrorism officers, have triggered serious security concerns.
The first blaze occurred early Monday morning when firefighters were called to a residential address in Kentish Town, north-west London. The property, reportedly owned by Starmer but currently rented out, sustained damage to its entrance. No injuries were reported.
Authorities confirmed they are investigating three separate incidents. These include the Kentish Town house fire, a car fire last Thursday on the same street, and a separate property blaze in north London on Sunday. Police are assessing whether the events are connected.
Due to the property’s link to the prime minister, the Met’s counter-terrorism command is overseeing the inquiry. Investigators are still determining the cause of the Kentish Town fire.
Prime Minister Starmer thanked emergency responders for their swift action. His spokesperson declined to give further details, citing the ongoing investigation, including who may have been in the property at the time of the fire.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed she had been briefed and expressed full support for the police, though she refrained from commenting further.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch called the incidents “shocking” and voiced support for Starmer and his family. “No one should face these sorts of threats, let alone people in public service,” she wrote on X. “It’s an attack on our democracy and must never be tolerated.”
Police continue to investigate the case as arson attacks target Starmer property, a troubling development amid growing political tensions.
