Washington, Oct 4, 2025 – A fresh wave of concern has swept the Indian community after another student from India was killed in the United States. The victim, 28-year-old Chandra Shekhar Pol from Hyderabad, was shot dead late Friday night by an unidentified gunman in Dallas, Texas.

Pol, who completed his Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery in India, moved to the U.S. in 2023 for higher education. He recently finished his Master’s degree and was working part-time at a gas station while searching for full-time employment. It was during one of his night shifts that he was fatally attacked.

His grieving family in Hyderabad has appealed to the government to help bring back his mortal remains. Local leaders, including BRS MLA and former Telangana minister T. Harish Rao and MLA Sudhir Reddy, visited Pol’s residence on Saturday to console his parents.

“The pain of parents who had hoped their son would reach great heights but instead lost him in such a brutal way is unbearable. On behalf of BRS, we urge the state government to step in immediately and ensure Chandra Shekhar’s body is brought back to his hometown without delay,” Rao wrote in a social media post.

Rao also highlighted that Pol belonged to LB Nagar and was a Dalit student who had gone abroad with big dreams. He called the killing a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by Indian students abroad.

This incident follows another gruesome murder last month in Dallas, where 50-year-old motel manager Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah was beheaded in front of his wife and son after a dispute over a washing machine. The accused, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a co-worker with a criminal record, has since been arrested and charged with murder.

The back-to-back killings have triggered outrage and fear among Indian communities in the U.S., with families demanding stronger safety measures and quicker diplomatic response to protect Indian nationals.
