Chandigarh, January 25, 2026 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of dense fog across most Punjab districts. Strong winds are expected in several areas today, but no major weather changes are anticipated. A Western Disturbance, previously a low-pressure area over Jammu and adjoining Pakistan, is now manifesting as a cyclonic circulation at altitudes of 3.1 to 7.6 km above sea level.

The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Sunday due to dense fog and cold wave conditions.

District-Wise Forecast:

  • Dense fog likely at isolated places: Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali.

  • Dense to very dense fog at isolated places: Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala.

  • Dense to very dense fog/cold wave at isolated places: Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar.

  • Dense fog/cold wave at isolated places: Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Mansa.

Snowfall in the hills has caused a significant temperature drop in the plains. Bathinda recorded the lowest minimum of 0.8°C, while Faridkot’s maximum was 17.2°C. Today’s state average maximum temperature rose 0.2°C from yesterday but remains 3.6°C below normal.
