Trump Defends Israel’s Airstrike on Gaza, Says Peace Deal Not at Risk

Tensions between Israel and Gaza have flared up again, just hours after both sides signed a much-celebrated peace agreement. On Wednesday, Israel launched a large-scale airstrike on Gaza, accusing Hamas of repeatedly violating the ceasefire terms.

In response, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a statement backing Israel’s military actions, asserting that the peace deal would “remain intact” despite the escalation.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said,

“Israel had the right to respond. They lost one of their soldiers. If Hamas does not honor the terms of the ceasefire, they will face serious consequences.”

When asked whether Israel’s counterattack could jeopardize the truce, Trump dismissed the concern, saying,

“No, it won’t. The agreement stands.”

Trump Warns Hamas of “Severe Consequences”

In a stern message, Trump warned Hamas leaders to abide by the peace terms or risk losing everything.

“Hamas is a very small part of the Middle East peace puzzle,” he said. “They need to behave. They’ve said they will, and if they do, things will go well for them. If they don’t, their days are numbered. Their lives will be finished.”

Israeli Offensive Ordered by Netanyahu

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Benjamin Netanyahu had authorized “immediate and powerful strikes” on Gaza following intelligence and security consultations. Israeli officials claimed that the strikes were a “measured response” to Hamas attacks on an Israeli military post earlier in the day.

According to sources, Israel notified Washington in advance about its decision to carry out the operation.

Earlier, the Israeli Air Force conducted multiple precision strikes in northern Gaza, reportedly killing nine people, including several Hamas members. The militant group accused Israel of violating the peace accord and blamed the United States for supporting the aggression.

Trump to Meet Xi Jinping

Amid rising Middle East tensions, Trump also announced plans to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. In a post on social media, he wrote:

“Bringing trillions of dollars back to America has been an incredible journey. Working with brilliant and talented leaders around the world — tomorrow I will meet President Xi Jinping. It will be a great meeting for both our nations.”
